Getting started with eat2explore is easy, simply
Each Explore Box contains 3 easy-to-follow recipes, pre-measured spice/sauce mixes for each recipe, a shopping list, a country brochure, activity sheet, country sticker, flag pin, and a fun collectible.
For our eat2explore cooking kit reviews, we received their best-selling Greece Explore box.
The Greece Explore box contained:
Our shopping list included everything we needed to buy at the store for the three recipes and even had the vegetarian options listed. We made several substitutions as we went through the store based on what was available and our dietary needs.
For example, we swapped pork for chicken because my husband is allergic to chicken and swapped beef for lamb because our local grocery store didn’t have ground lamb.
Unlike Meal Kits where all of your ingredients come in the box, with the eat2explore cooking kit they send the hard-to-find spices and sauces and let you shop for the ingredients giving you more control over your meal options.
As of this post, we made the Lamburgers (substituted beef) and the Chicken Souvlaki (substituted pork).
It was really nice having all of the spices pre-mixed as shopping for those can be challenging and expensive. It also made it easier for my son to grab what was in the recipe and add it to the dish.
The recipes were easy to follow for both me and my son, 10, and I appreciated the little “chefs hat” indicators on each step letting you know the difficulty.
We had a minor issue reading the measuring spoon labels as the numbers are the same color as the spoon, but figured it out and could measure all of the ingredients.
My son loved helping with the sauces and putting the meat on the skewers. At dinner, he told everyone exactly what he made and was very proud.
Both the Souvlaki and the Burgers tasted wonderful. The sauces and spiced meat were the stars of the show and you really felt like you were eating traditional food from Greece.
Our only complaint was the lack of veggies in each recipe. Each dish had tomato, cucumber and/or lettuce, but we needed more and added a side of broccoli to round out the meal. This could also stretch the meal if you have more than 4 people dining.
The country brochure and activity sheet were a hit around the dinner table. We took turns reading about our country, Greece, and then did some of the activities.
The activities were perfect to easy for my son, 10, and would be more difficult for children that are 5 or 6.

We love that every eat2explore box contains hard-to-find spices and sauces and that there are gluten-free and vegetarian options available. Our Greek meals tasted great and were fairly easy for our 10-year-old son to make almost on his own.
We also love that eat2explore cooking kits can be purchased as a subscription or as a one-time purchase, making them perfect for gifting!
We don’t love that shipping is extra as I think we’ve all come to expect free shipping, but do like that they ship to the entire US and Canada.
And while these kits come with hard-to-find spices, they do not include all of the ingredients needed to make all 3 recipes and you will have to go to the grocery store to get everything you need.
When compared to other kids cooking kits that we’ve reviewed, the addition of the hard-to-find spices sets eat2explore apart from those just offering recipes, cooking tools, and educational activities.
We would highly recommend eat2explore to any family looking to create a love of cooking in their kids, families looking to try new and interesting recipes from around the world, and anyone looking for a unique gift for a child in their life.
