Before we dig into the review, it’s important to know a little bit about how our bodies work.
According to WebMD
“Hydration is important because the body is comprised mostly of water, and the proper balance between water and electrolytes in our bodies really determines how most of our systems function, including nerves and muscles”.
So if you don’t drink enough water your body won’t function properly. And if you are an athlete or doing anything that causes you to sweat you are losing important minerals that can be replaced with drinks that include electrolytes. SHOP NOW >>
These electrolytes include Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium, and Zinc. According to Hydrant, these minerals help in the following ways.
Water and electrolytes are nothing new. Gatorade, the original electrolyte-packed sports drink, has been around since 1965! Unlike Gatorade, which has 48g of sugar per 12 oz container (WOWZA!) and several artificial ingredients, Hydrant Raid Hydration mix contains 4g of sugar and the no-sugar version contains 0g.
For this Hydrant review, we tried the raspberry lemonade flavor Caffeinated Hydration mix. I know that I don’t drink enough water, I just don’t love the taste, and as a result, I often get headaches.
I’ve tried drinking water first thing in the morning to replenish my body and before bed, but can’t get into that routine. I don’t love sports drinks as they are filled with chemicals and other powered electrolyte mixes contain stevia, which I don’t like. So, when I came across Hydrant I thought that it was worth giving a try!
Hydrant says “Get an extra burst of energy without the jittery sensation you’re used to feeling. Our caffeine is from organic green tea and since it also has L-Theanine, an amino acid found in green tea leaves, you should feel a focused calm instead of jittery.”
Hydrant recommends trying one packet a day for at least 10 days to feel the difference between being hydrated. They say that some people like to drink it first thing in the morning, after a workout, after a long day in the sun, and/or before bed.
Since I opted for the caffeinated hydration mix drinking it before bed was not an option, so I decided to drink it first thing in the morning before my morning smoothie hoping to create a habit by adding it to my morning routine.
Hydrant recommends adding your hydration mix to 8oz of cold water and taking a sip to see if you like the flavor. You can then add more cold water if you want a lighter flavor. I recommend using ice-cold water and then adding ice cubes after you have reached your desired flavor. I used about 12oz of water. SHOP NOW >>
I started using Hydrant in the morning before making my daily smoothie and used it for 10 days as recommended. I noticed a couple of things. First, committing to using this caffeinated hydration mix within my daily morning routine helped me stick with it and I’m confident that after 30 days (the time it takes for someone to create a new habit) drinking water in the morning will be my new routine. This is something that I have struggled with and happy that this is pushing me to make the change.
Next, I noticed that the caffeine in the Hydrant mix gave me a little boost in the morning, but did not make me jittery or crash after which usually happens with coffee.
I agree with the recommendation from Hydrant that you should play around with the flavor strength to suit your tastes. The raspberry lemonade flavor can be tart, almost like when you leave a lemon in water overnight (if that makes sense, haha), but with the right amount of water, it has a more subtle taste that I really enjoyed. I also recommend adding ice cubes.
So how did I feel after the 10 days? I’m not sure! I like the natural caffeine boost and adding a new habit to my morning routine, but think it’s too soon to tell for me. I think that if I was an athlete or someone who works out a lot or has a job working outside in the hot sun, basically if I was more active and losing electrolytes more during that day, that I would notice a bigger difference.
After 10 days I wasn’t sure if Hydrant was giving me more than a boost in energy from the caffeine, but after using it for 30 days I can feel a difference in not only my energy but also how I am feeling throughout the day. I feel overall better. SHOP NOW >>

Using Hydrant for the recommended 10 days helped me create a new habit of drinking water in my morning routine, something I have struggled with, and also gave me a morning energy boost without the jitters and crash I get with coffee.

And compared to other sports or hydration drinks, Hydrant is around $1/day which is in line with other similar drinks.
If you are looking to add more water to your day, want a natural caffeine boost in the morning, or are someone that exercises regularly or works out in the sun, losing electrolytes through sweat, I would recommend giving Hydrant a try. If you are dehydrated, and a lot of us are, this will help get you back on track and may even help you create a new healthy habit, as it did for me. SHOP NOW >>
