Yes! You can freeze a Milk Bar cake for up to 2 weeks in the freezer. You can freeze the whole cake or you can freeze leftovers.
If freezing leftovers, we recommend cutting them into slices before freezing so that you can enjoy a slice whenever you want without having to thaw the whole cake.

For our Milk Bar birthday cake review, we ordered the 6″ Birthday Cake in Vanilla. At the time, Milk Bar was having a 20% Off cake sale and our cake was $42 + $15 shipping.
Our cake arrived on precisely the day I chose, the day before my son’s 11th birthday. SHOP NOW >>

Milk Bar recommends that you store your cake in the freezer if you are not going to eat it within 5 days. Birthday Cakes will stay fresh in the freezer for up to 1 month.
They also recommend taking your cake out of the fridge 2 hours before eating it as they are best served at room temperature.
After the party, the cake can stay in the fridge for up to 5 days or in the freezer for 2 weeks.
Milk Bar cake is special because of its elevated flavors and textures, including the one-of-a-kind “crunchy crumbs” throughout the cake and on top of the cake. The classic vanilla Birthday Cake will bring back memories of the funfetti cake you loved as a kid, but better!
This cake has the following:
As I mentioned above, we bought the 6″ vanilla cake and couldn’t wait to dig in on my son’s birthday. There were only 4 of us and we knew that the 6″ cake would leave us with plenty of leftovers.
We followed the recommendations and removed the cake from the fridge 2 hours before eating. This allowed the cake to warm up and become moist, and for the icing to become soft and creamy.
As we enjoyed the Milk Bar birthday cake, everyone commented on three things, the crunchy cookie crumbles between the layers, the yummy cream cheese filling, and how rich the cake was.
We all agreed that we couldn’t eat more than a small slice because the cake was rich and sweet. For me, the crunch cookie crumbles were too sweet, but my son, his friend, and my husband found them to be the perfect sweetness.
Milk Bar says that this cake can feed 8 to 10 people, but I think that it can easily feed 12, maybe more. It’s very good, but a little goes a long way.
Yes, for some. Milk Bar birthday cakes are on the expensive side, especially compared to homemade cakes or grocery store cakes. When you compare them to higher-end bakeries or buying a slice of cake at a nice restaurant they are more in line, but with shipping, they are definitely at the top end of the price range.
We did find that our 6″ cake could feed more than 10 people, which brings the cost per serving down to under $5 per slice.
As a special occasion cake, they are fun and unique, and very tasty. For us, we would happily send a Milk Bar birthday cake to a good friend or loved one on their birthday and would order again when celebrating.

In addition to chocolate and vanilla birthday cakes, Milk Bar offers a variety of seasonal cakes. We tried the 6″ Red Velvet Cheesecake Cake for my mom’s birthday.
This cake is a double chocolate red velvet cake with chocolate cake and chocolate crumbles, red velvet frosting, cheesecake filling, and large red velvet crumbs.
The cost of this 6″ cake was $65 plus $15 shipping.
We loved all of the chocolate flavors in this cake, but the cheesecake filling was the star of the show! The cheesecake filling cut the sweetness of the cake and frosting and added a very tasty tanginess to the overall cake flavor.
I just wish that there was MORE cheesecake filling! Double would be perfect in my opinion.
One thing I did notice with this cake unlike the Vanilla Birthday Cake, was that the cheesecake filling layer and the red velvet frosting layer mixed together and weren’t as defined as the picture.
This could be because we unwrapped it after leaving it to sit out for a couple of hours and all of the layers became softer? It’s not a big deal, but not exactly like the pictures on the Milk Bar website 🙂
Like the Vanilla Birthday Cake, the Red Velvet Cheesecake Cake was very rich and very decadent.
We could only eat a very small slice each and basically cut the slices with one large red velvet crumb on each.
I would definitely order the Red Velvet Cheesecake Cake again for a birthday or special occasion! I’m excited to try more Milk Bar cakes in the future.
In addition to Birthday cakes, Milk Bar offers an ever-changing selection of seasonal cakes and treats. Some of our favorites include:

And while our Milk Bar birthday cake tasted wonderful and was a fun surprise, it was on the expensive side compared to homemade or grocery store cakes, especially when you add in the shipping cost. With that said, the 6″ cake could easily feed 12 people, bringing the cost per serving under $5.
