Happy National Pet Day!  It seems like there are so many random “holidays” nowadays (4/11 was also National Barber Shop Quartet Day), but National Pet Day is one that I can get behind.  We have an almost 9-year-old 100lb St Berdoodle (St Bernard Poodle mix) named Daisy that we absolutely love and adore.  She has grown up with our 9-year-old son and is part of our family (yes, she sleeps in our bed!).  Daisy brings a wonderful energy to our home, along with unconditional love, and is always up for cuddles and treats.  She is there on good days and bad, she doesn’t care how you look or if you showered, she just wants to be with us, preferrable on the couch.

During these difficult times, Daisy has been our constant, our rock.  She obviously has no idea what’s going on, but she does know that all of her people have been home for the past month and she is loving it.  She is enjoying the attention, the extra walks, and just being around us.  And WE love being around her.  It’s important for everyone to maintain some sort of routine during this time and that includes feeding our Daisy breakfast and dinner on schedule, taking our morning walk, and lots of cuddles at night.  And while we are stuck at home it is comforting to know that we can get Daisy’s food delivered and not have to worry about our girl getting what she needs.

On National Pet Day we gave our Daisy extra love, took her for two spectacular walks, and snuggled on the couch while watching Dr. Pol.  Oh, and we may have given her an extra treat or two just because.  For Daisy, this day was filled with lots of love, but for some dogs and their owners, it’s been especially challenging.

We are proud to partner with a premium dog food company that is helping out during this difficult time, a time when not all pets are getting the love that they deserve.  Ollie is launching a series of initiatives to help pet owners and will be partnering with the Humane Society to donate 2,000 meals to pups in communities severely impacted by COVID-19.  They will also be donating 3,000 meals to dog owners nominated by their customers and will be providing special discounts to first responders and medical staff.   You can read more about these initiatives on the Ollie blog.

We want to thank Ollie for doing what they can to support the pet community during this time of self-isolation.  If you aren’t familiar with Ollie, they make fresh, healthy human-grade dog food personalized for your furry BFF and delivery it to your door.

You simply fill out your pup’s pet profile by answering a couple of simple questions and Ollie tailors their food based on your pup’s age, breed, activity level, allergies, ideal weight and more so that they are getting everything they need and none of that bad stuff, like fillers and by-products, found in most store-bought dog food.  This food is filled with the best ingredients like high-quality meat, fruits and veggies, and superfoods and made right here in the US.  Read more about Ollie on their MealFinds page or visit their website to set up your pup’s profile.

Stay safe and healthy!
